How can Robotic Process Automation help my company?

What is RPA?

Robotic Process Automation, RPA for short, is a software-based approach that automates activities between complex intertwined systems. Replicate user actions to reduce or eliminate human intervention in a mundane, repetitive, and manual process, making the user more productive and minimize errors.

 How does RPA work?

RPA works by accessing information from your existing IT systems. There are numerous ways that RPA tools can integrate with your applications. One option is through connections to databases and enterprise web services in the backend. Another is through front-end or desktop connections that take multiple forms.

Below we want to explain in detail each of the phases and forms that make possible the execution of RPA:

  • The process is evaluated for the feasibility of implementing an RPA solution
  • The design phase evaluates what to eliminate from the process
  • The documentation phase provides the guidelines for the developers and the client (process owner)
  • The development phase interacts with the client directly to perform constant reviews to assure the process is fully covered
  • The UAT phase is the step before production and opens the availability for the process owner to test the results of the RPA solution itself
  • The hyper care phase puts the solution directly on production, in this stage, the client will receive direct support from the developer to assist in any issue within the automation.

In what type of industry can RPA be used and why?

The RPA solution consists of processes that follow a user’s steps and translate them into a workflow designed to replicate those actions. It can make the development of process automation quick and easy.

With this methodology, the different parts of the automation of a process are divided into different layers, each responsible for specific functionalities. This approach to automation design facilitates the development and can also make automation easier to understand.

RPA can be used in any industry that uses repetitive work or has a process with reports or structured data to work with it.

What are the benefits of using RPA?

RPA is all about automating repetitive and monotonous tasks so that your employees can divert their complete attention towards more fundamental ones. Since its inception, robotic process automation has revolutionized the way companies work. Thanks to RPA, you can:

  • Reduction of human error
  • Optimization
  • Efficiency
  • Reduced risk and workload
  • Improved data quality
  • Employee brand boost & reduction in hiring costs

 RPA Within Organizations

RPA tools allow a company to configure the software—a “robot,” so to speak—to capture and interpret applications for processing transactions, manipulating data, triggering responses, and communicating with other digital systems.

The approach is the reduction of workload for the process owners and the efficiency that the execution of the process will have.

RPA mimics the actions a human would take when interacting with that app or database, such as clicking on buttons, selecting an option from a drop-down menu, or keying in data. In this way, RPA can automate repetitive tasks that previously required human input—like queries, calculations, and record or transaction maintenance.
